Frontier Premier League expands ahead of inaugural NPL season in 2024-25

CHARLESTON, S.C. (July 1, 2024) – The Frontier Premier League, a new member league of the National Premier Leagues (NPL) platform beginning with the 2024-25 season, is welcoming four new clubs ahead of its inaugural campaign. Spanning Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas, the Frontier Premier League provides a depth of competition to families in the region that already enjoy an ECNL Regional League – Frontier presence.

Below are the member clubs, which will compete in U-13 through U-19 boys and girls divisions. The four new clubs are noted with asterisks:

  • Arkansas Comets (AR)
  • Blitz Academy FC (OK)
  • Dallas Surf (TX)
  • Broken Arrow Express SC (OK)*
  • FC Wichita (KS)*
  • Kernow Storm (TX)
  • Northeast Oklahoma FC (OK)
  • Sporting Springfield SC (MO)*
  • Steel United (TX)*
  • SW Missouri Rush (MO)
  • Tulsa Sheffield (OK)
  • West Side Alliance (OK)

The NPL, which formed in 2011, is a nationwide platform connecting 17 regional leagues and more than 2,500 teams with a national postseason pathway.

The Frontier Premier League represents a successful collaboration of two long-time youth soccer platforms – the ECNL, which was founded in 2009, and the NPL, which launched in 2011. ECNL Regional Leagues and NPL member leagues have formed complementary levels of competition in several regions, including the latest example: the Mid-Atlantic Premier League in the Northeast region.

“We are thrilled to be joining the NPL,” said Ryan Egan, Director of Leagues for Broken Arrow Express SC. “This is a significant milestone for our club, marking a new era of competitive excellence and growth. Joining the NPL aligns perfectly with our mission to provide top-tier soccer opportunities and development for our players. We believe that this platform will not only elevate the level of competition but also enhance the skills and exposure of our talented athletes.”

“We, at Steel United, are excited to be part of an opportunity that exposes our athletes to new competition from a variety of locations,” added Adam Tourle, Director of Teams and Programming for Steel United Texas. “We believe that the travel element will not only aid in their development as players, but as people too.”

“Sporting Springfield is excited to join the NPL’s new Frontier Premier League. We continuously strive to push boundaries and offer challenging opportunities for our players. The NPL offers a great platform that will balance out and offer similar national playoff, college showcase and higher-level competition opportunities to our ECNL platform teams,” said Eric Sorlie, Executive Director of Sporting Springfield. “The NPL will also offer our 9v9 ages the chance to compete at the same level that mimics what our future ECNL teams will have, at times crossing over for more games. The ability to bring more clubs to and showcase Springfield is an added bonus. Now, more teams will get to play at home, and not need to travel for every game. It’s huge for the players, families and coaches.”

Frontier Premier League participating teams will compete for qualification to the 2025 NPL Finals, which will be held in July in Denver, Colorado, where qualifiers compete against other regional NPL member leagues throughout the country for championships. The NPL’s vision is to serve youth soccer by forming and collaborating with leagues, adopting the Players First philosophy and supporting US Club Soccer’s mission to foster the development of clubs.
