Deadline to apply to the 2023 Ohio State Cup is Jan. 31
CHARLESTON, S.C. (Jan. 20, 2023) – The application deadline is approaching for the 2023 Ohio State Cup, US Club Soccer’s state tournament for U-9 through U-19 boys and girls teams in the state. Interested teams have until January 31 to register. The Ohio State Cup is presented by the Great Lakes Alliance.
Due to tournament growth, there will be preliminary matches for both Northern Ohio and Southern Ohio. For Northern Ohio, U-13 through U-19 preliminary matches will be held May 5-7 at the Hall of Fame Village in Canton and the Strongsville Soccer Complex in Strongsville. The U-9 through U-12 age groups in Northern Ohio will play May 13-14 at Lost Nation Sports Park and Andrews Osborne Academy in Willoughby. Southern Ohio preliminaries for all age groups – U-9 through U-19 – are scheduled for May 5-7 at Ankeney Soccer Complex in Dayton.
The top two teams from each age group of each preliminary face off in the semifinals. The semifinals and finals for all age groups is May 20-21 at Darree Fields in Dublin, Ohio.
The Ohio State Cup offers both Super Group (most competitive) and Premier divisions. All 2023 Ohio State Cup champions in the 13-U through 19-U Super Group brackets advance to the National Cup XXII Finals in Colorado in July 2023. Premier division champions of the Ohio State Cup earn entry to the National Cup XXII Midwest Regional in Chicago in June 2023.
The playing format is traditional round-robin play with championship games: 7v7 for U-8 through U-10 teams, 9v9 for U-11 and U-12 teams and 11v11 for U-13 through U-19 age groups. Teams must hold US Club Soccer passcards at the time of the event in order to participate.
