New England Regional Cup qualifies dozen teams to National Cup XXI Finals

CHARLESTON, S.C. (July 2, 2022) – The New England Regional Cup concluded in mid-June at ForeKicks in Marlborough, Mass., after a challenging schedule that began in March and advanced through multiple rounds of competition. The annual regional cup is hosted by the New England Premiership and has a reputation for being the pathway for numerous National Cup Finals champions.

Twelve teams emerged from U-13 through U-19 boys and girls age groups, earning qualification to next month’s National Cup XXI Finals in Denver, Colorado. In total, four clubs were represented. Aztec SC led all clubs with five division titles, followed closely by Boston Bolts with four.

The NEP is a long-time member of US Club Soccer. Clubs throughout New England compete annually in both league-based and cup-based competitions within US Club Soccer. All four winning clubs of the New England Regional Cup have also experienced success in the NPL this season, sending qualifiers to the NPL Boys East Playoffs and NPL Finals.

The final stage of US Club Soccer’s cup-based championship series is the National Cup Finals. Qualifying state cups and National Cup Regionals place teams into the Finals. This year’s event will be held July 14-21 at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park in Denver, Colorado.
